2018 School of the Art Institute of Chicago Scholarship Recipient

Sophia Reed, 27, $3000 to study Explorations in Acrylics and Digital Fabrication. She grew up in Warrensburg, Missouri and now lives in Kansas City where she works full-time and spends as many hours as possible creating art in her day-to-day life. She graduated from The University of Central Missouri where she received a BFA in Painting and a BSE in Art Education. Sophia plans to establish her painting studio practice for a few years before attending graduate school in 2020. She works through a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, and ceramics.
