NSAL Welcomes Cynthia Steele to the New Position of Executive Director

Washington, DC. – Feb. 20, 2020 -- The National Society of Arts and Letters (NSAL) announces the addition of veteran arts organization executive Cynthia Steele to the newly-created position of executive director. Steele, who will begin her post March 1, will be working from NSAL’s new national office in the Washington, DC area.

Steele, who has 20 years of experience in arts and orchestra management, began her career at the League of American Orchestras. She most recently held the post of orchestra manager for the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Her prior positions included director of operations and artistic administrator of The Florida Orchestra, and assistant orchestra manager of the Pittsburgh Symphony. Steele earned a Bachelor’s Degree in music education from Gordon College and a Master’s Degree in flute performance from the Boston Conservatory.

Steele currently works with Threshold Acoustics to cultivate relationships with performing arts organizations and venues throughout the US, and manage conference activities. She also maintains an active consulting business in the arts.
