In 2014, NSAL partnered with the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio to sponsor one student each year to attend a two-week summer session at the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio in Iowa City, Iowa, home of the University of Iowa. For more information about the Iowa Young Artists’ Studio program, click here.
Two scholarships are offered annually by the NSAL for students ages 16-22: the Naomi Rabb Winston Scholarship in Art and the Shirley Rabb Winston Scholarship in Classical Voice. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and promise of future success. Both scholarships must be used for private study, special training, or personal advancement in the applicant’s art medium or vocal career; this may include workshops, voice teachers, summer programs, etc., but may not include college tuition, housing, or travel. NSAL Chapters select students each spring to compete at the national level, where as many as eight to ten scholarships are awarded in varying amounts, up to a maximum amount of $5,000.
